RV electric systems and battery
The electrical system controls everything from lights to the refrigerator. If something goes wrong
with the electrical system, Shafer RV's technician checks wires, fuses, breakers, and appliances.
We diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix any problems you may have with your electrical system to
ensure the safe and efficient operation of your RV's electrical system. This includes:
Checking, repairing, and replacing wiring.
- Troubleshooting, fixing, or replacing faulty lighting.
- Repairing or replacing various other electrical components.
- Diagnosing and repairing or replacing fuses and breakers.
- Evaluating and repairing or replacing power converters and inverters.
- Checking and troubleshooting generators to repair or replace them.
- Using diagnostic equipment to confirm the functionality of the system and various components.
- Testing and replacing batteries.
- Examine refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, and dishwashers to ensure peak performance.
Pro Tip:
Fuses and breakers ensure that there isn't too much current being pulled from the electrical line. It's important to remember that replacing fuses with higher-rated ones can cause severe electrical issues and even fires. So, if you replace a fuse, ensure it matches.
Roof
Shafer RV provides roofing repair, maintenance, and re-installation. We clean, inspect, seal
seams, patch holes or tears, and reseal the entire roof to prevent leaks. A thorough inspection
reveals cracks, holes, soft spots, discolored sealant, and lifting. These can occur regularly if you
are parked under trees or live in a moist climate. Shafer RV repairs these issues immediately to
prevent further damage to the RV and its internal components. We offer yearly resealing,
patching of tears and holes, and complete reroofing services.
Propane
The propane system in your RV requires regular maintenance to ensure that its components
operate correctly and, more importantly, for your safety. Propane lines can develop leaks through
cracks in the lines and normal wear and tear on seals. Shafer RV Repair checks for leaks,
inspects the system components, and evaluates the system performance. We check the propane
lines for leaks and survey tanks, valves, regulators, and hoses for signs of rust, corrosion, or
damage. We also investigate the ventilation for your propane systems.
Tip: If there is a problem with your stove or furnace, it's probably because there is something
wrong with the fuel line. We check for common issues such as the fuel line, igniter, burners, filters, and exhaust vents. If these checks do not reveal the problem, your furnace or stove must
be repaired or replaced.
RV restoration
RV restoration requires a lot of work and appropriate skills to ensure your RV is safe and usable.
These skills include evaluating the plumbing, electrical, and other components to ensure your RV
runs safely and efficiently. We repair these systems for you as well as helping with different
requirements, such as roofing and repairing generators and slide-outs.
Generator repair
To efficiently repair RV generators, they require mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills. We
are experienced in generator repair through our knowledge of fuel systems, lubrication, cooling,
and exhaust systems. Through diagnostics, we can determine if there are issues such as low oil
pressure, overheating, or exhaust leaks and provide the necessary repairs. We offer generator
maintenance for tasks like changing the oil, filters, and sparkplugs while ensuring everything is
connected correctly and working as it should.
Furnace
At Shafer RV, we are experienced with a variety of furnace models. Because of this, we can
evaluate a number of different issues that could be affecting your ability to use the furnace. We
have a great understanding of electric and gas systems. We analyze the circuits, key components,
burner firing sequences, blower motors, and have experience with repairing and replacing
thermostats. We repair, rebuild, and install furnaces and ensure that the furnace works efficiently
and safely.
Air-conditioning
Shafer RV understands the need for air-conditioning when it's hot out. Our technicians have the
technical knowledge, practical experience, and various skills to provide air conditioning service
and repair. We diagnose and repair problems, provide maintenance, and ensure the safety and
efficiency of your air conditioner. The technicians understand refrigeration cycles, types, and
system components to properly evaluate, diagnose, repair, or replace the air conditioner. We
check for wiring, breakers, power distribution, compressors, condensers, and fans that could
cause problems with the air conditioner system and repair them to keep you cool during those
warmer months.
Awnings
We have experience inspecting, servicing, repairing, or replacing your RV awnings. To properly
diagnose issues with your awnings, we examine elements such as the roller tube, arms, brackets,
end caps, fabric, screws, tension, lubrication, and hardware. We then determine what parts need
to be repaired or replaced, or if the awning itself needs to be replaced. In the awning fabric, we
look for tears and rips. If the roller tube is warped or damaged, we replace it with a new one.
Tip: Because awnings are made to create shade, avoid leaving your awning extended in strong
winds and rain. This will help prevent damage. Also, clear debris, such as twigs, leaves, and
pinecones, before retracting the awning. If the awning is wet, let it dry before retracting it.
Slide-Outs
For your RV slide-out, Shafer RV technicians inspect and lubricate the slide-out mechanisms and
check the seals, gaskets, and motor. Our experience helps us to address various mechanical
issues involved with slide-outs, including alignment, power supply, and motor function. We
evaluate the roof and tracks for debris and damage, look for damaged, cracked, or deteriorated
seals and gaskets, apply lubricants to gears, tracks, and seals to help reduce wear, and check the
power supply, fuses, and wiring for potential issues.
Plumbing and water systems
Shafer RV is experienced with plumbing and water systems in RVs. We can diagnose, inspect,
and fix leaks, clogged drains, water heaters, and pipes. To do this, we understand the various
components in your water and plumbing systems, use specialized tools, and follow established
practices to maintain your systems efficiently. We check for leaks, clogs, pressure issues, and
malfunctions in your water heating system and pump. Our technicians replace pipes, fittings,
faucets, water heaters, elements, filters, water pumps, black and gray tanks, holding tanks,
valves, joints, connections, and seals. We provide winterization before cold or freezing weather
to prevent burst pipes or tanks and other frozen water-related issues.
Tip: You want to regularly dump and flush your black and gray water tanks, check for leaks, and
insulate the pipes in cold weather.
Clogged toilets in RVs are a known issue that we deal with. We check for Pyramid clogs
(compounded debris in the black holding tank), blockages, waste build-up when the black tank is
left open, and leaks. Our technicians also check for clogs in showers and sinks. These can be
caused by grease, hair, and other debris.
Winterization and Summer Ready
We provide services for winterization and de-winterization, as well. Winterization is the process
of getting your RV ready for the winter, typically involving your water system, to prevent cracks
and breaks. We flush all the water from the system and run RV-friendly antifreeze through the
water system to protect it from the freezing temperatures in our area. We winterize the battery, as
well, by disconnecting it and making sure all electrical components are disabled while they are
stored.
